UPDATE: Power reportedly restored to all NAEC customers following downed power line

Update at 8:15 p.m. — All power should be restored.

Update at 5 p.m. — Crews have restored power to approximately 600 members by backfeeding from Viola. The area between Hand Cove Road and Henderson remains out. We estimate power should be restored to everyone by 9 p.m.

North Arkansas Electric Cooperative crews are on the scene of a downed power line on U.S. Highway 62 near Gepp at the intersection with Hand Cove Road. Traffic is reportedly blocked, while approximately 1,000 customers are without power.A spokesperson for the cooperative says a tractor pulled down power lines from a three-phase pole.While an estimated time for repairs is not yet available, updates will be posted on the cooperative’s Facebook page.The spokesperson adds a reminder that all downed lines should always be considered energized and are to be avoided.
