Mountain Home School Board President Neal Pendergrass has been elected president of the Arkansas School Boards Association.Pendergrass will work with the 13 other elected directors to provide leadership and organization for ASBA and all school boards in Arkansas.

According to its website, ASBA “is a private, nonprofit membership organization that provides leadership, training, advocacy and specialized services to school boards throughout Arkansas.”

Pendergrass, a 20-year veteran school board member, says he is honored to be elected as this year’s ASBA president. He says serving as the president of the ASBA Board of Directors is humbling, and he’s honored to represent the district and region while serving in this capacity.

Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jake Long commends Pendergrass for his commitment to student success locally and across the state.

Dr. Long says being a school board member is already an incredible service in itself, and having Pendergrass go above and beyond to serve students and school districts across the state is the true definition of being a servant leader.
