The Mountain Home High School basketball teams returned home Friday for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks and picked up a sweep over Paragould.

The boys’ game needed overtime as the Bombers defeated the Rams 57-49. Paragould began the game on a 7-0 run, but Mountain Home came back, and the teams went back-and-forth for the rest of the game with 11 lead changes and seven ties. The Rams had a 44-42 lead late in the final quarter when Mat Jones hit a layup and drew a foul in the process. He missed his free throw, and both teams later missed opportunities to get the lead before the end of regulation. Jonah Treece scored five points for Paragould, but he didn’t get any help from his teammates. The Bombers put up 13 points in overtime to post the eight-point victory.
Wyatt Gilbert led Mountain Home with 13 points, Jones scored 12, and Colton Peters added ten. For the Rams, Treece had 19 points, Cole Doke finished with 11, and Hunter Wilmes chipped in ten.
The Bombers improve to 8-14 on the season and 3-7 in the 5A-East. Paragould falls to 6-15 and 0-10.

Mountain Home finished the girls’ game in dominating fashion as they topped the Lady Rams 30-16. Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half, and that trend continued for Paragould as nearly every shot was contested by the Lady Bombers. Mountain Home eventually pulled away as they went on to win by 14.
The Lady Bombers were led by Kate Gilbert with 13 points, and Emma Martin ended up with 12. No one was in double figures for the Lady Rams.
Mountain Home and Paragould are now part of a three-way tie for second place in the conference with Jonesboro as all three are 6-4 in the league. The Lady Bombers are now 14-9 overall, and the Lady Rams drop to 16-7.
