High school basketball makes up much of the local Monday schedule as several area teams will begin postseason play.
The 2A-1 District Tournament gets underway at the Yellville-Summit Multi-Purpose Facility. In girls’ action, Flippin and the host Lady Panthers tip off at 4 p.m., and Haas Hall Academy faces Decatur at 7:00. On the boys’ bracket, Cotter takes on Haas Hall Academy at 5:30, and Yellville-Summit plays Decatur at 8:30.
The 1A-2 District Tournament will get started at the Cougar Den on the campus of Izard County High School in Brockwell. Calico Rock’s girls will be paired with Western Grove at 4:00. On the boys’ side, St. Joe faces Omaha at 5:20, Bruno-Pyatt takes on Viola at 6:40, and Norfork plays Lead Hill at 8:00.
The 2A-3 District Tournament begins at Buffalo Island Central High School in Monette. In the boys’ games, Melbourne tips off at 4:30 against Riverside, and Salem will be matched up with Marmaduke at 6:00. The Salem girls will face Rector at 7:30.
The 3A-1 East District Tournament gets started at Clinton. In girls’ action, Valley Springs gets underway at 5:00 against Green Forest, and Marshall takes on Bergman at 7:40. Marshall’s boys will play Green Forest at 6:20.
Elsewhere, the Gainesville girls travel to Norwood, Lutie makes the trip to Myrtle to meet Couch, and Dora’s boys host Clever.
