The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is confirming the body of Amy Villines was found Saturday along Crooked Creek near Lost Spur.Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore says his office received notification of the identity Tuesday morning from the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office. The identity was confirmed through dental records provided by the family. On Saturday, Sheriff Moore said authorities believed the body was that of 45-year-old Amy Villines of Harrison. Villines and her husband, John, had been missing since late November when they disappeared in a flash flood in Harrison.Searchers found the body of John Villines last week off McDonald Road along the bank of Crooked Creek in Boone County.
Searchers quickly found the couple’s SUV lodged against a bridge following the storm. The city later drained Lake Harrison in the search, but only found pieces of clothing. Investigators say John and Amy Villines lost control of an SUV in the flash flooding on Nov. 30th. The search for the missing couple was suspended last month, after Lake Harrison was drained and debris was sifted for any possible signs of the couple.
Investigators say both bodies were recovered from piles of debris.
Sheriff Moore says at this time, there is no additional information. The case is still being investigated as an accidental flood disaster. Completion of the investigation is pending the full autopsy reports from the medical examiner.
