Boy Scout Troop 340 has been selected to receive a $5,000 grant from Ozark Opportunities, Inc. for the mobile micro-shelter project to combat homelessness.
The award will be presented Thursday afternoon at 4:30 at OOI’s Community Services Training Center, located at 1856 Church Park Drive in Harrison.
Local youth organizations in Baxter, Boone, Marion and Searcy counties were provided the opportunity to apply for $5,000 mini-grants to build mobile micro-shelters to combat homelessness in their local community.
Those interested submitted proposals for the design and construction of mobile micro-shelters designed to provide safe, short-term sleeping accommodations for homeless individuals in North Central Arkansas.
