
The 2A-1 District Tournament held its semifinal round on Tuesday at the Yellville-Summit Multi-Purpose Facility.
Cotter’s girls advanced to Friday’s championship game. The Lady Warriors edged out Decatur 57-55.
Cotter’s last opponent in the tournament will be Flippin. The Lady Bobcats upset top-seeded Eureka Springs 43-42. The Lady Highlanders will play Decatur for third place.
Cotter was not as fortunate on the boys’ bracket. The Warriors fell to top-seeded Eureka Springs 50-39.
Yellville-Summit will play the Highlanders for the title on Friday. Flippin ended up losing to the Panthers 57-56. The Bobcats will be Cotter’s opponent in the third place game.
The second round of the 1A-2 District Tournament was held at the Cougar Den on the campus of Izard County High School in Brockwell.
The Norfork boys watched their season come to an end. The Panthers lost to Western Grove by a final of 55-32. The Warriors will face Calico Rock in Friday’s semifinals.
Viola squeaked by Omaha 63-61 in the other boys’ game. The Longhorns’ next opponent will be top-seeded Izard County.
Calico Rock secured a regional tournament berth on the girls’ side after they topped Lead Hill 57-47. The Lady Pirates’ semifinal opponent will be Viola.
Izard County was victorious in the other girls’ game with a 43-33 decision over Omaha. Bethany Simmons was the host Lady Cougars’ top scorer with 18 points, and Ashlynn Bratcher finished with 11. Izard County improves to 20-16 on the year, and they’ll take on top-seeded Norfork on Friday.
Mammoth Spring’s girls advanced to the title game of the 1A-3 District Tournament after defeating Hillcrest 52-42 at Armorel. Lauren Mitchell paced the Lady Bears with 13 points, and Terra Godwin and Stephine Henry added 12 points each. Mammoth Spring is now 13-15 on the season, and they’ll face top-seeded Maynard on Friday.
The first round of the 3A-1 East District Tournament came to an end at Clinton with the Bergman boys clinching a regional tournament bid. The Panthers edged out Mountain View 45-44. Bergman will be paired with the host Yellowjackets in Thursday’s semifinals.
Elsewhere, Gainesville’s boys had a rough outing on their home floor. The Bulldogs were doubled up by Hartville 80-40.
Mountain Home Christian Academy swept a pair of boys’ games over the Christian Ministry Academy at Republic.
The Eagles dominated the varsity game with a 97-56 victory. Mountain Home Christian was led by Cooper Long with 32 points, Matt Woods scored 15, and Caleb Spray chipped in 14.
Mountain Home Christian also won the 14-and-under boys’ contest 61-23. Trenton Cox was the 14-and-under Eagles’ leading scorer with 21 points, and Gideon Spray ended up with 17.
