
High school basketball makes up much of the local Valentine’s Day schedule as district tournament play continues in Arkansas.
Melbourne’s girls will play their first game in the 2A-3 District Tournament at Buffalo Island Central High School in Monette. The top-seeded Lady Bearkatz will face Sloan-Hendrix in the semifinals at 7:30.
The semifinals of the 3A-1 East District Tournament will be held at Clinton. In girls’ action, top-seeded Mountain View and Bergman tip off at 4 p.m., and Valley Springs takes on the host Lady Yellowjackets at 6:40. On the boys’ side, Marshall plays top-seeded Valley Springs at 5:20, and Bergman will be paired with Clinton at 8:00.
The semifinals of the 1A-5 District Tournament will get underway at Timbo. The Rural Special girls face top-seeded Wonderview at 5:30. On the boys’ bracket, the host Tigers go in as the number one seed as they take on Concord at 6:45.
Jasper is hosting the 1A-1 District Tournament, and both teams will play their first games Thursday after having a bye to the semifinals. The Lady Pirates play Kingston at 6:40, and Jasper’s boys will be matched up with Alpena at 8:00.
The semifinals of the 4A-1 District Tournament will be held at Harrison, and both host teams will go up against Farmington. The boys’ game is scheduled for 5:30 followed by the girls’ contest at 7:00.
In other high school basketball, Bakersfield travels to Koshkonong, the Gainesville girls host Conway, and Lutie’s varsity boys and junior varsity girls entertain Norwood.
