
A race developed at Cotter on the final day for candidates to file for the May 21st school board elections.Robert Benedict submitted his paperwork to the Baxter County Clerk’s Office Wednesday morning, setting up a race with Kenny Crunkleton who filed Tuesday. The seat is now held by Renata Dewey, who did not seek re-election.
Earlier, incumbent Neal Pendergrass filed for the Mountain Home School Board, and incumbent Levi Woods filed for the Norfork School Board.
When the filing period closed at noon Wednesday, Fulton County Clerk Vickie Bishop said no races had developed. To recap, Burton Yarnell filed for the Position 4 seat at Salem, Joey Hall filed for the Position 2 seat at Salem and Ken Cotter filed for the Position 4 seat at Viola. All are incumbents.
The school elections will be held on May 21st for those districts opting to hold voting on the primary date.
Under Arkansas’ relatively new law, districts have the option of holding their election on either the primary or the general election date.
