
Regional tournament play began Wednesday in Arkansas as Cotter played a doubleheader against Mountainburg in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Danville.
The Lady Warriors secured a state tournament berth for next week. Cotter defeated the Lady Dragons 41-31 to advance to Friday’s semifinals.
Cotter did not fare as well on the boys’ side. The Warriors’ season came to an end as they fell to Mountainburg by a final of 41-34.
The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament got underway at Calico Rock.
Norfork’s girls will make a return to the state tournament. The Lady Panthers invoked the mercy rule as they routed Armorel 61-23.
Mammoth Spring also moved on to the girls’ semifinals after beating Calico Rock 43-31. Terra Godwin led the Lady Bears with 14 points, Lauren Mitchell scored 12, and Stephine Henry added 11. Mammoth Spring improves to 15-15 on the season.
The Viola boys watched their year come to an end. The Longhorns lost to Hillcrest by a score of 67-53.
Izard County clinched a bid to the state tournament they will host next week after pounding Maynard 68-25. The Cougars were led by Coby Everett with 16 points, Caleb Faulkner had 13, Noah Everett finished with 12, and Justus Cooper chipped in ten points. The Cougars are now 36-4 on the year.
Melbourne’s girls dominated the opening game of the Class 2A North Regional Tournament at Rector. The Lady Bearkatz put the mercy rule in effect as they beat up on East Poinsett County 65-28.
Mountain View began hosting the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament.
The Marshall boys were one-and-done in the tournament. The Bobcats were eliminated by Charleston 66-38.
Valley Springs grabbed the win in the other boys’ game in a battle between Tigers. Valley Springs advanced to the semifinals with a 61-43 victory over West Fork.
Valley Springs and West Fork also met on the girls’ bracket. Valley Springs dominated the game with a 48-23 decision.
Two area teams began action in the Class 1A Region 3 Tournament at Mount Vernon-Enola.
Timbo’s boys continued their winning ways as they moved on to Friday’s semifinals. The Tigers topped Augusta 66-54.
The Rural Special girls will be joining Timbo in next week’s state tournament. The Lady Rebels defeated Brinkley 64-43.
Harrison’s boys were eliminated from the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Morrilton. The Goblins fell to Ozark 58-48.
The Jasper boys picked up a state tournament berth after their opener in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at County Line High School in Branch. The Pirates topped Scranton 52-32.
District play resumed in Missouri as Dora’s girls competed in the semifinals of the Class 1, District 3 Tournament at Cabool. The Lady Falcons lost to to Koshkonong 68-54. Dora finishes the season at 18-10.
Three boys’ teams played their openers in the Class 3, District 11 Tournament at Clever.
Hollister was bounced from the tournament after falling to the host Blue Jays 42-37. The Tigers wrap up the year at 11-13.
Forsyth suffered the same fate as Hollister as they lost to Fair Grove 62-50. The Panthers’ final record is 14-12.
Ava did not fare any better as they fell to top-seeded Springfield Catholic 79-57. The Bears completed their season with a mark of 13-12.
