MH man selected for U of A Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council

Mountain Home resident Lang Zimmerman has been chosen to serve on the University of Arkansas College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council.
The advisory council, established in 1989, consists of engineering alumni and national industry leaders committed to the college’s pursuit of excellence in research, scholarship and academic programs, ensuring personal and professional growth for future engineering leaders who will stimulate economic prosperity for Arkansas, the nation and the world.Zimmerman is a 1985 graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering. He is vice president of Yelcot Communications and is a co-founder and managing partner of Big Creek Golf and Country Club in Mountain Home. He was honored as a distinguished alumni of the College of Engineering in 2005.

He has served by gubernatorial appointment as a commissioner on the Arkansas Economic Development Commission since 2011, and was elected chairman of AEDC in 2015.

In addition to serving on the University of Arkansas Computer Science and Computer Engineering Advisory Board, Zimmerman is a life plus member of the Arkansas Alumni Association and a member of the University of Arkansas Academy of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. He was elected to the Arkansas Academy of Computing in 2012.

John English, dean of the College of Engineering, says Zimmerman is a valuable addition to the Advisory Council.

Zimmerman says he viewed the council as a chance to give back to the University of Arkansas.
