The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public a Level 3 registered sex offender has relocated to a new address. According to Sheriff John Montgomery, 27-year-old Alton Bruce Cooke III has moved from 665 Hilltop Lane in Mountain Home to 134 Highway 178 West in Midway.
Level 3 is considered at high risk to re-offend. Cooke was convicted of computer child pornography in Marion County in September 2013. The offense involved the then 21-year-old Cooke engaging in sexually-explicit online conversations with a 14-year-old female stranger during which he discussed meeting her for sex.
Cooke is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
