
A Mountain Home High School alumnus has been invited to take part in an international basketball tour this summer. Hendrix College women’s basketball player Vinessa Daniel has started a GoFundMe after being asked to represent the United States in Spain.
Daniel says this process began after head coach Drew Gaeng sent an email to her and a teammate about the program.

The tour will be from June 3rd through 13th, and Daniel says there will be several activities while they visit four Spanish cities.

The participants are also slated to put on basketball clinics for youth in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona. They will work with coaches from around the country and with the Costa Rican national team head coach Josh Erickson.
While Daniel is not able to speak Spanish, she says a translator will accompany the athletes to assist with the language barrier.

The cost of the program is $4,500 and consists of three payments. The first payment of $500 is due at the end of this month, $2,000 will be due March 22nd, and the final $2,000 must be turned in by May 10th. In addition, Daniel says she will have to pay for a flight to the Los Angeles International Airport in order to get an international flight, making the total cost $5,000.

Daniel is a 2017 graduate of Mountain Home High School and in her sophomore year at Hendrix College in Conway. She is the daughter of Vince and Jennifer Daniel of Mountain Home.
