MH girls among local teams looking to advance to state finals

High school basketball makes up much of a busy local Saturday schedule as state tournaments continue in Arkansas and Missouri.

The Mountain Home girls return to Lake Hamilton High School in Pearcy with a chance to punch their ticket to the state championship game in Hot Springs. The Lady Bombers will face Jonesboro in the semifinals of the Class 5A State Tournament.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently 19-10 on the season after beating Russellville on Friday. Jonesboro is 21-8 as they come off a ten-point victory over Vilonia.
This will be the third meeting between these two teams this season. The Lady Bombers fell to the Lady Hurricane 40-30 on January 4th and 43-40 on February 1st.
Tip-off at Lake Hamilton Wolf Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.

Two area teams will take part in the semifinals of the Class 1A State Tournament at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Rural Special’s girls tip off at noon against Alpena, and on the boys’ side, the host Cougars meet County Line at 1:30.

The Melbourne girls will compete in the semifinals of the Class 2A State Tournament at Carlisle. The Lady Bearkatz get underway at noon against Marmaduke.

Mountain View’s girls will continue action in the Class 3A State Tournament at Osceola. The Lady Yellowjackets take on Trumann in the semifinals at 6:00.

The Harrison girls are also one win away from playing for a state title as they resume play in the Class 4A State Tournament at Magnolia. The Lady Goblins will be paired with Berryville at 6:00.

Dora’s boys will be in Van Buren with a trip to the Show Me Showdown on the line. The Falcons will compete in the quarterfinals of the Class 1 State Tournament as they meet Risco at 1:00.

District play will come to an end for the larger schools in Missouri, and both of West Plains’ teams will return to Logan-Rogersville High School to face the host teams for the championship of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament. The boys’ game tips off at 1:00 followed by the girls’ contest.
