Scott Dudelson/Getty ImagesKeep a good thought for The Killer. Jerry Lee Lewis is recovering from a “minor stroke” he suffered last Thursday night.
The announcement on the 83-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s Twitter goes on to say that Lewis “is with his family, recuperating in Memphis and the doctors expect a full recovery. The Killer looks forward to getting back into the studio soon to record a gospel record and on the road performing live for his fans.”
The note concludes with, “His family requests privacy at this time. Well wishes and prayers are greatly appreciated.”
Lewis, of course, is one of rock and roll’s true pioneers, with enduring hits including “Great Balls of Fire” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.” His pioneering influence on rock and roll was exceeded only by his wild and controversial lifestyle, which includes seven marriages, one of which was to his then-13-year-old cousin when Lewis was 22.
