Pat-down of bank customer leads to recovery of stolen UTV

The pat-down of a bank customer in Fulton County has led to the arrest of   24-year-old Harley Tibbits in connection with an UTV reported stolen out of Randolph County. An address for Tibbits was not listed on court documents.

According to the probable cause affidavit, law enforcement responded to the bank Monday, due to a suspicious man attempting to cash a stolen money order. The man, later identified as Tibbits, reportedly had one stolen money order inside the bank and a second one in his vehicle in plain view.

The money orders were taken during a break-in in Missouri.

During a pat-down, a key to the UTV was found in Tibbits’ front pocket. The stolen vehicle was recovered, after Tibbits told law enforcement where he had hidden it.

He reportedly said he had stolen the vehicle for a friend.

Tibbits has been charged with felony counts of forgery and theft by receiving.

His bond was set at $10,000.
