The spillway release at the Norfork Dam was increased Tuesday morning. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced eight of the dam’s 12 spillway gates are now open to further evacuate stored flood water.
The Corps originally opened five gates on Monday. Each gate is open one foot releasing nearly 4,200 cubic feet per second. With the addition of Norfork Dam’s two generators, a combined total of 10,000 cubic feet per second is now being released.
Daily lake information can be obtained online at swl-wc.usace.army.mil. The Corps’ mobile app can be found in the App Store by searching for USACE Little Rock.
