The Friends of Old Main will round out the Fridays with Friends spring concert series Friday with a concert by multi-genre duo The Natural Disasters featuring John T. Parks and Sarah Jo Sample at the Old Main schoolhouse in Salem.
A pasta dinner with all of the trimmings will be served by the Friends of Old Main at 5, with the show beginning at 6 p.m.
John and Sarah Jo began their musical adventure in 1996 when Sarah Jo hired 17-year-old John as the bass player in her band, Double Shot. They toured surrounding states for the next several years and were the opening acts for several artists and bands, including Restless Heart, John Michael Montgomery, Doug Stone, Mark Chesnutt and B.J. Thomas.
After Double Shot, the two set off to pursue college, family and solo careers. In 2007, they reunited to add pieces to the puzzle in the band, The Lockhouse Orchestra. Their blended voices, love for the audience and curiosity for the unwritten song brought the two together in 2013 as a duo act.
Now in its fifth year, the Fridays with Friends spring concert series brings some of the best musical talent to Fulton County each Friday in March.
Admission is a suggested donation of $7.
During the past six years, Friends of Old Main volunteers have worked to transform Old Main into a vibrant landmark for Fulton County. Funds raised from the concerts and other events are used to continue schoolhouse renovations.
Potential uses for the building include the creation of a Fulton County museum to house historical information and memorabilia; an art gallery and art classes; and a performance venue for theatrical productions, concerts and family activities. Other ideas include a community garden, herb garden, canning kitchen, and non-profit organization meeting and activity space.
The Friends of Old Main is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Contributions to the organization are tax deductible to the extent of the law.
