An event is scheduled for this weekend to showcase the numerous outdoor activities in the Twin Lakes Area. The Ozarks Sports and Outdoor Expo will be held Saturday at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Salem.

This is the second year for this expo. Fulton County Fair Manager Carolyn Lewis says the fair association came up with the idea in conjunction with the Salem Chamber of Commerce in 2017.

One of the first activities of the morning will be a free fishing derby for kids ages 12-and-under conducted by the Fulton County Conservation District at the Salem City Lake. Several prizes will be given away including $400 in cash, and the first 200 kids to register will receive a gift bag. Registration begins at 8:00, and the derby will start an hour later.

Seminars include youth turkey calling, beekeeping, bob white quail management and turkey management. In addition, the local Amish community will have a booth displaying plants and baked goods, and they will demonstrate turkey and duck calls.

There is no cost to attend the Ozarks Sports and Outdoor Expo. The only activity with a fee is the Razorback Archery 3-D shoot. Lewis also said at the time of this interview there were two vendor spaces available for anyone interested in taking part.
