Letters of requests from area non-profit organizations are being accepted for consideration for the 2019 Arvest Bank Charity of the Year program. The deadline for applications is April 12th.

The Charity of the Year program was created to lend financial support to local non-profit organizations through the annual Arvest Bank Charity Golf Tournament in its 23rd year.

Every year, a committee of Arvest Bank associates selects up to three local charities that share 100 percent of the proceeds from the golf tournament. Non-profit organizations in Baxter, Boone and Marion counties are encouraged to apply for consideration as a charity of the year.

David McBee, executive vice president and sales manager of Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas, says nonprofit organizations in the area provide much-needed resources and services throughout the year and are often faced with financial challenges. McBee says when our communities pull together to supplement that funding, it helps ensure those services will continue for our friends and neighbors. This tournament has garnered a great deal of participation for more than two decades, and Arvest hopes to continue that success again this year.

Watkins said the tournament has contributed more than $201,400 to local non-profit organizations since this tournament began.

Final selection as a charity of the year is based on past, present and future financial needs, along with other criteria. To qualify, the charity must be designated as an IRS 501(c)(3) organization and must submit a letter to the committee explaining why its organization should be selected.

Letters of application to be considered as a 2019 Charity of the Year should be mailed to: Arvest Bank Charity Committee, Attn: Cindy Sutterfield, P.O. Box 325, Yellville, AR, 72687, or they may be emailed to csutterfield@arvest.com.

The Arvest Bank Charity Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 24th at Big Creek Golf and Country Club in Mountain Home. Sponsorship opportunities for the event are available at all levels.
