Mountain Home High School junior Bella Bevel attended Senator John Boozman’s Congressional Youth Cabinet Friday. Bevel was selected for the cabinet after submitting letters of recommendation and an essay last spring.

The cabinet was designed to help students gain an understanding of government function and provide the senator with the ideas and opinions of today’s youth.

Upon meeting last fall, the cabinet members were divided into congressional districts and discussed the prevalent issues they wanted to address. Bevel and her fellow cabinet members from the first congressional district chose to research and present about the opioid crisis.

Bevel is active in a host of extracurricular activities, including G.A.T.E., student council, student ambassadors and four varsity sports. She also participates in service activities in the community and in mission trips around the country.

Bevel is the daughter of Bobby and Ann-Marie Bevel.
