Not long after winning the Class 1A state championship, the Izard County High School boys’ basketball team has accepted an invitation into one of the United States’ most prestigious holiday tournaments. The Cougars will take part in the 39th-annual Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, scheduled for December 26th through 31st.

Izard County is coming off a season in which it finished 42-4, and they’ll return four starters when they start their defense of their state title. Tournament MVP Justus Cooper and fellow All-State selections Caleb Faulkner and Coby Everett are slated to be back next season. Dylan Tharp joined Cooper, Faulkner and Everett on the All-Region and All-Conference team, and he is also expected to return.

Izard County finished as the top-ranked team in Class 1A and seventh overall by the Arkansas Sports Media.
