
The Mountain Home High School baseball team had a good night at home as they stepped out of conference play on Friday. The Bombers squeaked by Fayetteville 2-1 at McClain Park.
Satch Harris picked up the win after pitching a complete game, striking out six batters and giving up three hits, a walk and a run. Mountain Home’s defense was able to avoid committing any errors. Will Gross led the Bomber offense by going two-for-three.
A pair of area teams suffered losses in the Ozark Baseball Classic at Harrison. Valley Springs fell to Fredericktown, Missouri, 9-3, and Omaha lost to Rose Bud 9-2.
Cotter fell just short in a high-scoring game. The Warriors were edged out by Flippin by a final of 15-14.
Yellville-Summit suffered a loss at home. The Panthers ended up falling to Mountain View 9-5.
Viola picked up another victory in front of its home crowd. The Longhorns defeated Lead Hill 16-1.
Mammoth Spring went just across the state line and topped Thayer 9-2. The Bears improve to 6-8 on the season.
Marshall had a tough day as they wrapped up the week with a road trip. The Bobcats lost to Berryville 15-2.
Jasper ended up with a loss on its home turf. The Pirates fell to Green Forest 16-5.
Gainesville won its opener in the Sparta Lady Trojans Softball Classic. The Lady Bulldogs beat Hurley 7-4.
Cotter also suffered a one-run loss on the softball diamond. The Lady Warriors were edged out by Flippin 6-5.
Viola’s softball team picked up a shutout victory. The Lady Longhorns grabbed the 10-0 decision over Lead Hill.
Omaha had a good evening on the road. The Lady Eagles topped Jasper by a score of 21-1.
