The expansion of the Mountain Home Community Based Outpatient Clinic serving area veterans will be celebrated Thursday afternoon at 1 with a ribbon cutting and grand opening. The contracted U.S. Department of Veterans Administration facility has been expanded to 11,172 square feet and now offers physical therapy services, including post-operative treatment, pain, strengthening and conditioning, bracing and durable medical equipment.
A fourth patient aligned care team, consisting of a full-time APRN, RN, LPN and medical support technician, was recently added to the clinic’s services.
VA officials say future plans include the addition of dietary and audiology services.
A group of local veterans has been visibly protesting in Mountain Home since December in a quest for expanded services at the local VA clinic.
Ronnie Young serves as the commander for the Ozark VFW Post 3246, but separately, he has served as an organizer of the local protests.
Young told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news the protests started in part in support of area veterans without access to quality health care without utilizing a van service making daily round trips to the medical centers in the Little Rock area.
In February, Young says the protests have resulted in some progress.
The Mountain Home CBOC is located at 759 U.S. Highway 62 East in the Twin Lakes Plaza.
