After a day off Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals will open a three-game weekend series at home against the New York Mets Friday night. The Cardinals trail the Brewers and Pirates by one game in the National League Central race. The Mets are one game behind the Phillies in the N.L. East. Both the Cardinals and Mets are 10-8 on the season.
Adam Wainwright (1-1) gets the start for the Cardinals while Jason Vargas (1-0) goes for the Mets.
