A Searcy County resident, 68-year-old Ronnie Hogue of Marshall, has been found guilty of negligent homicide in the 2016 shooting death of 29-year-old Stephanie Bonine, also of Searcy County.
Following the jury’s guilty verdict Wednesday, Foster sentenced Hogue to serve one year in the Searcy County Detention Center and ordered him to pay a $2,500 fine.
Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell says Hogue was arrested in November 2016, following a 911 call to the sheriff’s office stating a person had been shot in a wooded area west of Marshall.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Bonine lying on the ground with an obvious wound to her neck. According to the probable cause affidavit, Hogue confessed to shooting Bonine, saying he thought she was a deer he had been hunting. Bonine was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cassell says Hogue is also charged with felony and misdemeanor drug charges from an arrest that occurred in February.
