Tornado causes damage, forces Lead Hill Schools to cancel classes

A tornado was confirmed Tuesday afternoon in northeastern Boone County and has forced the cancellation of Wednesday’s and Thursday’s classes at the Lead Hill School District.

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado was first confirmed at approximately 3:15 near Willis, nearly 11 miles northeast of Harrison, and it moved through Bergman and Lead Hill. Lead Hill School District officials confirmed on their Facebook page the campus has damage caused by the storm forcing the two-day closure. Lead Hill will use two of its AMI days granted by the state of Arkansas.

Entergy Arkansas is reporting 1,569 customers in Boone County without power just before 5 p.m. Marion County has 38 Entergy customers also experiencing a power outage.
