
The Mountain Home High School soccer teams wrapped up the regular season Thursday night by splitting their matches at Searcy.
The Bombers won the 5A East Conference championship, after defeating Searcy in penalty kicks. The game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation but Mountain Home outscored the Lions 4-1 in penalty kicks for the win.
Samuel Campos and Talyn Benton scored goals in regulation while Koby Weber and Vini Arrelaro had assists. Jose Alonso had four goal saves.
In the P.K. shootout, Weber, Quentin Fourney, Arrelaro and Benton each scored goals.
The Bombers improve to 17-1 overall and finish conference play at 13-1. They open play in the Class 5A State Soccer Tournament at Searcy Thursday morning at 10.
In the girl’s game, Searcy scored a late goal to post a 2-1 win. The Lady Bombers had tied the match with 15 minutes remaining but the Lady Lions scored the game-winner with 4:55 to play. Mountain Home dominated the second half, out-shooting Searcy 9-2. Mountain Home also had 17 take aways and only nine turnovers.
Emma Martin had four goal saves. Lauren Helmert scored Mountain Home’s goal.
The Lady Bombers are now 13-3 overall and finish league play at 12-2. They open play in the 5A State Tournament at Searcy Thursday afternoon at 4.
