State tournaments continue for area baseball, softball teams

State touranments continue Friday for high school baseball and softball in Arkansas.

Two area baseball teams will compete in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Tournament at Taylor. Izard County and the host Tigers get started at 10, and Viola plays Bradley at 5:30.

Salem continues as the host school as they take part in the quarterfinals of the Class 2A State Tournament at Pitts Field at McClain Park in Mountain Home. The Greyhounds will be paired with Junction City at 3.
In addition, Lavaca and Woodlawn begin at 10, McCrory meets Parkers Chapel at 12:30, and Bay faces Horatio at 5:30.

Harrison will continue in the Class 4A State Baseball Tournament at Southside Batesville. The Goblins take on Valley View at 10.

Two local softball teams will compete in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Tournament at Taylor. Viola plays the first game of the day at 10 against Hermitage, and Calico Rock will be matched up with the host Lady Tigers at 3.

Salem continues to host the Class 2A State Softball Tournament at Freedom Field at McClain Park in Mountain Home, and they’ll be one of two area teams in the quarterfinals. The Lady Greyhounds meet Quitman at 10, and Melbourne faces Parkers Chapel at 3. In the other games, South Side-Bee Branch takes on East Poinsett County at 12:30, and McCrory plays Poyen at 5:30.
