As plans are being made for construction of an outpatient surgery center at Baxter Regional Medical Center, steps are being taken to reconfigure parking policies along Hospital Drive and Beard Street.

A release from BRMC says the hospital has seen a considerable amount of growth in the past couple of years. With the growth, new patients at the medical center and new families in the community “have been enthusiastically welcomed.”

BRMC officials say in order to accommodate for growth and to better serve its patients, construction projects will start soon that could potentially impact parking at the hospital.

While construction of a new outpatient surgery center is specifically mentioned, when KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news reached out for further details, BRMC VP/Business Development and Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation Executive Director Barney Larry says the outpatient surgery center is still in the planning process. Larry declined to elaborate on the new facility, saying planning is to go before the board in June for approval.

Larry says staff has been informed of the new parking arrangements, and the OPSC Board is aware of the planning stage.

The parking arrangements Larry noted call for tentatively in July construction of the outpatient surgery center to begin on the east side of the hospital campus along Beard Street, which will significantly reduce parking on that side of the facility.

To accommodate its patients, all hospital owned parking spots along Hospital Drive and Beard Street will now be designated for patient parking only.

The spots formally deemed as employee parking will be moved to the new lot being built in the back lot on the northwest corner of campus.
