
The Izard County High School bass fishing team competed for the first time in school history earlier this month on Lake Ouachita. The Cougars ended up finishing ninth out of 57 teams.
Hayden Lewis and Isaac Jones led Izard County with five fish at a total weight of 11.04 pounds. Lewis and Jones came up just short of qualifying for a national tournament.
Caleb Faulkner and Dillon Tharp had the Cougars’ second best performance with a total weight of over 7 pounds, and Izard County also had contributions from Drew Foster, Hayden Ekenes, Lane Mohlke and Josh Horton.
