Memorial Day ceremonies set for Monday in MH, Cotter

The annual Memorial Day Ceremony is scheduled for Monday morning at 11 at the Mountain Home Plaza 2000 across from the Baxter County Courthouse. This year’s event is hosted by the Alley-White American Legion Post 52 in Mountain Home.

Michael Dobbs will serve as the ceremony’s keynote speaker. Dobbs serves as the chief of volunteer services for the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock.

The ceremony will conclude with the rifle salute by the Alley-White American Legion Post 52 Honor Guard. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony at the Ozark VFW Post 3246 on West Seventh Street.

A second Memorial Day ceremony will be held Monday afternoon at 1 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Cotter. The host will be the Joe P. Joslin Jr. American Legion Post 23 in Cotter. This year’s guest speaker will be Purple Heart recipient and former Cotter resident Mark Diggs. The ceremony will also include a dedication for the Rosie the Riveter Rose Garden.
