Ross Gilmore/RedfernsNo one shuts down Neil Young — but over the weekend, they tried.
Young headlined the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival’s Saturday lineup, and the Expo grounds where the show is held has a strict 10 o’clock curfew. When Young kicked into his set closer, “(Keep On) Rockin’ In The Free World,” he was already edgin’ up on the end time. A minute or so in, the big hand hit the 12 and the little hand hit the 10, and the venue’s sound engineer cut the power to the amps.
But they didn’t kill the on-stage monitors, or the lights, so Neil and company kept jamming, with the crowd joining in to boost the sound level.
Neil Young is also busy working on a new album with Nils Lofgren, and hits Europe this summer for some outdoor shows.
