Stewart Volland/AXS TVEddie Money will undergo a minor heart-valve operation this week after recently experiencing shortness of breath. A post on the 70-year-old singer’s website reveals that Money’s doctors wanted to perform the minimally invasive procedure on him last week, but he chose to postpone it so he could perform at his scheduled concerts during the Memorial Day weekend.

Eddie played both shows, on Saturday in the Detroit area and Sunday in Maricopa, Arizona, although he wasn’t able to do an encore at the latter gig because of shortness of breath.

Money is expected to be ready to return to the stage by mid-June. The next concert on his schedule is a June 13 show in Frederick, Maryland.

Earlier this month, Eddie announced plans to release a new studio album titled Brand New Day on July 19.

“This is my first studio album in over 15 years,” Money says in a statement. “I’m so happy with the record — I think it’s one of the best albums I’ve ever made!”

The album’s autobiographical title tune is available now as a digital single and via streaming services. You also can check out an official video for the tune at Eddie’s official YouTube channel.

Brand New Day features 11 tracks, all of which were written and produced by Money with the exception of a tune called “California Dreamin’,” which was penned by Eddie’s son, Desmond. Brand New Day also includes “Shame on Me,” a duet between Eddie and his daughter, Jesse.

Acclaimed guitarist Waddy Wachtel lends his talents to four of the songs.

Of course, you also can catch Eddie and his family members in season two of his AXS TV reality series Real Money, which airs Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT.
