Three high school coaches from the area have been selected as coaches of the year for their respective sport. The Arkansas Activities Association made the announcement Thursday.
Kyle McCandlis of Izard County has been named the boy’s basketball coach of the year, after leading the Cougars to the Class 1A state championship.
A pair of tennis coaches from the area were also honored. Steve Cox, who coaches boy’s tennis at Bergman, and Doug Cox, the girl’s tennis coach at Harrison, were named coaches of the year.
