
The 20th edition of the Red, White and Blue Festival, brought to you by Gregg Farm Services, has a new competition. The Steak Cookoff Association is sanctioning the Red, White and Blue Steak Cookoff Friday evening at the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home as a qualifier for the world championship in October.
The event will begin at 3 p.m. with the team setups. The cooks’ meeting and steak selections will start at 5, and each team will have two steaks provided by West Plains Bank and Trust Company.
The cost to enter is $150. Each team will have a 10×15 space, and steak trailers are welcome. Cash prizes go to the top five teams, with the winners receiving $1,000.
Teams wanting to compete in the 1-Bite Challenge will be charged an extra $25. Cash will go to the top three teams, with the winners taking home $100.
The 1-Bite Challenge teams will need to turn in their entries between 6:30 and 6:45. Steaks should be turned in between 7:30 and 8. Awards will be announced at 9.
