A local probationer is accused of stealing a lawn mower from an area church. Fifty-two-year-old Stephany Elliot of rural Gassville is in the Baxter County Detention Center facing multiple felony counts.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Baxter County Sheriff’s investigators responded to reports of a stolen lawn mower at a residence on Dupont Lane belonging to Elliot. She has a warrantless search waiver on file, and authorities said they located the lawn mower reported to be stolen from a Baxter County church. The mower is valued at nearly $6,000.
A small baggie was also reportedly located containing nearly one gram of a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine. Other items of drug paraphernalia were also found, including a glass table top containing a white powder residue with markings and a red soda straw with a white powder residue. The substance on the glass top later was later tested with a positive indication of methamphetamine.
The investigating officer says as evidence was about to be collected, the baggie containing methamphetamine was missing from the table. Elliot is alleged to have removed it and either destroyed or hid it. The package was not relocated after a search.
Elliot is charged with theft by receiving, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. Her bond is set at $20,000.
