An Arkansas State University student from the Twin Lakes Area has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to study abroad.
Norfork High School graduate Montana Greve, a junior animal science major with an emphasis on equine management, was chosen to receive the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. The Gilman Scholarship awards up to $5,000 to students, funding their study abroad or internship programs in their chosen field.
Greve is set to participate in the University of Limerick’s equine science program in Limerick, Ireland, during the fall 2019 semester. Greve says she was excited to receive her award letter and she “can’t wait for Ireland and all that it holds for me.”
She adds, “I also cannot recommend study abroad enough. It will open so many opportunities for both my career and social life.”
She plans to obtain her master’s degree in animal science at A-State, after receiving her bachelor’s degree, hoping to work in the thoroughbred breeding industry in Ireland.
Since 2001, the Gilman Scholarship has enabled more than 25,000 American students of myriad backgrounds to engage in meaningful educational experiences abroad.
The Gilman program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, which is supported by the Institute of International Education.
