A Mountain Home man has been arrested and charged with allegedly setting up a “chop shop” on the property of his acquaintance.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, 24-year-old Brian Calvert, has been charged with felony counts of commercial burglary and theft of property.
Online court records indicate this is Calvert’s third open case, with separate charges filed in both Baxter and Fulton counties in connection with other incidents.
His latest arrest follows the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office receiving a report of a number of items being stolen, including a four-wheeler, tools, a safe and a security system.
As they worked the case, investigators went to a residence along County Road 643 in the Buford area. A man at the residence identified himself as an acquaintance of Calvert’s.
The man reportedly told the investigators Calvert had asked if he could store some items at the Buford area residence. He said Calvert brought piles of items to the property, setting up a “chop shop.”
The man said he had told Calvert to remove the items, but he either cannot or will not do so.
The investigators reported seeing tools scattered around, as well as several four-wheelers and motorcycles in various phases of disrepair and assemblage. Items reported stolen earlier to the BCSO were also identified.
On the ground in the area of the items the investigators reported finding bond paperwork in Calvert’s name and documents connected to his circuit court case in Fulton County. Online court records indicate he is charged in Fulton County with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, following a traffic stop in early May.
In addition, to these two open cases, Calvert has a third open case in Baxter County. In that case, he was arrested and charged in connection with the theft of items from a residence in Gamaliel. Click here to read the original story.
Calvert’s bond is set at $10,000 in his most recent case.
