Officials with the Bull Shoals Post Office are preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime event Friday when the zip code of 72619 for the city will match the calendar date.Postmaster Wilson Bowling says Friday will be a first for the county’s six post offices. Bowling says generally, the Zip Meets Date event occurs only once for a post office. For post offices like Mountain Home, with multiple zip codes, there are multiple events. To commemorate the special occasion, a piece of Bull Shoals will join the reference collection of postage stamps at the Philatelic Foundation in New York City.

Bowling says a special pictorial cancellation will be available at Friday’s Zip Meets Date event.

The Bull Shoals Post Office is located at 904 Lakeshore Road. It’s the third location for the post office. Bowling says the first was in the C.S. Woods building, where the town’s founder sold the lots after originally platting Bull Shoals.

The second location was at the corner of Broadway and State Highway 178.

Bowling serves as postmaster for both Bull Shoals and Lakeview. Combined, the two post offices serve four rural routes, with about 4,000 delivery points.

For those who are unable to attend Friday’s special occasion, the next Zip Meets Date event in Marion County will be at Flippin on July 26, 2034. Mark your calendars!
