Columbia/Legacy RecordingsThe Bruce Springsteen-heavy soundtrack for the new coming-of-age movie Blinded by the Light was released today on CD and digitally, and with it comes a previously unreleased tune by The Boss, “I’ll Stand by You.”

Springsteen originally wrote the melodic ballad for the 2001 fantasy flick Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, but the tune wasn’t used in the movie.

Besides being available on the Blinded by the Light soundtrack, as a digital single and via streaming, you can check out “I’ll Stand by You” now at Bruce’s official YouTube channel.

Blinded by the Light is based on the true story of the impact Springsteen’s music had on a Pakistani Muslim teen in 1980s England.

Besides “I’ll Stand by You, the film’s soundtrack features well-known Springsteen tunes such as “Dancing in the Dark,” “Badlands,” “Cover Me,” “Prove It All Night,” “Hungry Heart,” “Because the Night,” “Born to Run” and, of course, “Blinded by the Light,” along with “I’ll Stand by You.”

The album also includes two previously unreleased live performances: a version of “The River” that Bruce and The E Street Band played in New York City in September 1979, and a solo acoustic rendition of “The Promised Land” that The Boss performed in Washington, D.C., in November 2014.

Blinded by the Light gets its theatrical opening on Friday, August 16. A two-LP vinyl edition of the soundtrack will be released August 30, with a limited-edition orange-vinyl version available at Barnes & Noble stores and BarnesandNoble.com.
