
Wednesday marks the first day of classes for several public school districts in the Twin Lakes Area, including all three in Baxter County, and local authorities want to make sure the roads stay safe for kids and motorists. The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has released some back-to-school safety tips.
Sheriff John Montgomery says the main piece of advice he wants to give to motorists is be patient.

Sheriff Montgomery goes on to stress the importance of stopping when a school bus is stopped to pick up or drop off kids, even when the road is a multi-lane highway.

The sheriff also says motorists need to put their cellphones down, especially in a school zone.
