
The Mountain Home City Council will consider six items of business when it meets in regular session Thursday evening at 6.Among the items of business is an ordinance that would create new positions of assistant chiefs for both the police and fire departments.
The council will also be asked to act on an ordinance establishing an oversight committee for the city’s historic arts and entertainment district.
Earlier, Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams said he had appointed a five-member oversight committee whose responsibilities will include receiving applications for events and festivals within the entertainment district, as well as signage for the area.
The committee will consist of council member Jim Bodenhamer, downtown merchants Duncan Clayton and Lori Gregory, Food Bank of North Central Arkansas Executive Director Jeff Quick and Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Angela Broome.
The Mountain Home City Council approved an ordinance establishing an entertainment district in June.
In other business, a resolution will be considered expressing the willingness of the city to utilize grant funds through the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism to develop recreational facilities.
An ordinance accepting the final plat of Glenbriar Commons, Phase I, is also on the agenda.
As of early August, information from the city’s building inspection department indicates building permits for the Glenbriar Commons have included three duplexes, seven tri-plexes and one four-plex unit, as well as two, two-story homes for the development located along Maumee Court.
Adjustments to the water/wastewater budget are also on the agenda.
The meeting will be held in the council chambers of the Mountain Home Municipal Building.
