The search for a missing Lakeview man who is presumed to have drowned in Bull Shoals Lake continues for a third day Wednesday, although the search has been scaled back. Sixty-four-year-old Ralph Rush was last seen along the shore of the lake near Lakeview Marina Monday morning.

Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Captain Jeff Lewis says crews from multiple agencies have used underwater sonar and cameras along with divers the last two days but they have not found the victim. That portion of the search has been suspended. Lewis says a cadaver dog is supposed to be brought in Wednesday to help. Otherwise, spot checks are being made awaiting any further developments.

Lewis says some people on jet skis told search crews they saw Rush near the middle of the lake channel Monday holding on to a boogie board and paddling with his hands. They spoke with him, and he did not appear to be in distress at that time. The boogie board Rush was holding was later found on the opposite bank from where his walker, phone and wallet were found.

Lewis says the water depth is up to 220 feet in the main channel with uncleared trees and brush on the bottom making it difficult for divers and underwater cameras.
