Gainesville woman injured in 1-vehicle accident in Ozark County

A Gainesville woman suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident Friday night in Ozark County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Makayla Hilderbrand was transported by ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center from the scene 2 miles east of Gainesville.

Hilderbrand was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Jason Laird of Gainesville. The vehicle was traveling on County Road 517 when it swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway and struck an embankment.

A hospital spokesperson says Hilderbrand remains listed as a patient. She was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. Laird was able to escape injuries.

Laird’s vehicle had extensive damage in the 11:55 p.m. accident.
