Searcy County authorities have arrested a Tier 3 sex offender from Nevada with a lengthy criminal history for failure to register.
Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell says 37-year-old Crystal Elais Fuentes was arrested Aug. 10, after first being spotted days earlier walking down U.S. Highway 65 in Marshall.
The Marshall Police Department made contact with Fuentes on the evening of Aug. 2, checked her records and learned she was a registered sex offender from Nevada. The sheriff’s office was alerted and upon further investigation learned she had a “fail to verify” status with Las Vegas authorities. However, no warrant had been issued for her arrest.
Cassell says his office learned Fuentes had been convicted of pandering a child with force, pandering-furnish transport to a child, furnishing dangerous drugs to a minor, first-degree kidnapping and soliciting or engaging in prostitution.
After receiving this information, the sheriff’s office sex offender coordinator spoke to Fuentes’ case worker who confirmed as a Tier 3 offender, Fuentes is required to report to law enforcement every 30 days to comply with her registration and requirements and had failed to do so.
Since Fuentes had been a resident of Searcy County for 33 days and had failed to resister in Arkansas as a sex offender, along with her failure to verify in Nevada, a warrant affidavit was prepared for her arrest.
Fuentes has a valid Arkansas ID card and a Searcy County address.
