A Stone County woman, 39-year-old Tamara Guinn of Fifty-Six, is being held in the Marion County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond in connection with five drug and weapon-related charges.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday, Guinn was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on U.S. Highway 62/412 in east Marion County near the overlook on June 30. The slow speed of the vehicle caught the attention of a Marion County deputy, who then followed the car for about half a mile and observed it swerving from the centerline of the highway to the outside fog line, with the driver tapping the brakes frequently.
The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle, driven by 31-year-old Joshua Brightwell of Timbo, did not pull over. Instead it continued east, still swerving, with the driver applying the brakes before pulling over on the shoulder. The vehicle then reentered the highway, before finally pulling to a stop about a half mile west of the Cotter bridge.
The deputy immediately detected the odor of marijuana, along with the smell of burnt chemicals, coming from the vehicle.
With the assistance of a Flippin Police officer, the vehicle was searched, leading to the discovery of an unloaded .9mm pistol between the driver’s seat and center console, along with drugs and drug paraphernalia. The drugs included 20 white pills stamped “R 35,” 133.8 grams of field testing positive methamphetamine and 2.8 grams of a green leafy substance.
Guinn is facing three felony charges and two misdemeanors. Brightwell had an active no bond warrant out of Van Buren County at the time of the incident.
Online court records indicate a second probable cause affidavit was filed against Guinn Monday in connection with her arrest Saturday in Stone County.
According to the earlier affidavit, deputies were dispatched Saturday evening to a disturbance along Recycle Center Road in Mountain View.
Upon arrival, a deputy reported observing a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway, with a female, later identified as Guinn, sitting on the ground and a male, identified as Nathaniel Guinn, standing over her screaming. Both appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.
Nathaniel Guinn was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and cited for parking in the middle of the road. Tamara Guinn was arrested and has been charged with a felony count of possession of drug paraphernalia with the purpose use of crystal methamphetamine. Bond for Tamara Guinn in this case was set at $1,500.
