A Mountain Home man was arrested after he allegedly took his daughter from a residence, and more charges were added after resisting arrest. Twenty-three-year-old Travis Russell was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center early Sunday morning and released later that afternoon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Mountain Home officers were dispatched to Eighth and Bryant streets just before 10 p.m. Saturday for a verbal dispute. Two males were attempting to control another male, identified as Russell, who was reportedly intoxicated. Officers left after everyone agreed to calm down, but they were soon dispatched to return after the males got in a physical altercation.

When officers returned, everyone was separated, but Russell was reportedly yelling and cursing while sitting next to a parked vehicle. A female resident said after the officers left, Russell became belligerent, grabbed his daughter and attempted to walk down the street with her. She said she and another female were able to retrieve the girl after Russell fell in the roadway.

Russell was placed in handcuffs and escorted to a patrol car, but he refused to get in. When officers got Russell in the car, he reportedly attempted to kick out a window. As he was being transported to the detention center, he allegedly headbutted the front partition and demanded to be taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center. He continued to hit his head until they arrived at the detention center, and he then refused to exit the vehicle.

Several county officers and jailers assisted. Russell allegedly kicked at the jail door smashing a jailer’s hand into the closing door. He was eventually placed into the detox cell on the floor, and reportedly made threats to all officers in the cell.

Russell is facing charges of third-degree battery, second-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, second-degree battery on a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He posted a bond of $18,265.
