A second arrest has been made in a case dating back to earlier this year when the cashing of a large amount of coins helped lead authorities to a man from Oakland in connection with a home burglary.

The latest to be arrested in connection with the case is 45-year-old Garry Gene Gebhart of Flippin. Gebhart is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond and is facing seven felony charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday, Gebhart and a codefendant, 33-year-old Weston John Robertson, arrested in March, allegedly kicked in the back door of a residence along State Highway 201 North. Once inside, the two are alleged to have taken four firearms, a large amount of ammunition, a small fire safe and several buckets of loose change. The change filed four-to-five ice cream buckets.

The homeowner told authorities Gebhart had been living in the house while he worked for him but he had kicked him out. The burglary happened shortly after that on Nov. 14.

During the investigation, law enforcement learned two females had been cashing large amounts of change at a local store. The duo, over the course of four days, turned in nearly $1,400 in coins. Authorities learned one of the females was reportedly Gebhart’s girlfriend, and a witness told them she had heard the two male suspects talking about the victim’s house and the fact he would not be home during the day.

The affidavit indicates one of the guns was sold to a person in Marion County.

Gebhart is charged with four felony counts of theft of property involving firearms, as well as residential burglary, theft of property and possession of firearms by certain persons, meaning he is a convicted felon.

Online court documents indicate Robertson’s case remains open.
