The Grandpa & Ramona Jones Banjo Weekend continues through Saturday at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View, with the Arkansas State Championship Banjo Contest wrapping up the event.
The three-day weekend event includes live music, evening concerts and workshops focused on carrying on the rich tradition of the banjo in Arkansas.
The weekend celebrates the legacy of Grandpa & Ramona Jones with evening shows Thursday through Saturday, all-day banjo workshops on Thursday and Friday, a legacy panel discussion and the Arkansas State Championship Banjo Contest on Saturday.
Evening shows in the Music Theater begin at 7, with doors opening at 6.
Tickets are available at the park 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Tuesday-Saturday) and at the Music Theater from 6 – 9 p.m. (Thursday-Saturday).
Combo tickets are also available for $19.50, which include an all-day, all-access pass to the artisan Craft Village, Heritage Herb Garden, live music in the park, plus admission to an evening show in the Music Theater from 7 until 9 p.m.
About the Venue: Voted “Venue of the Year”, 2018 Arkansas Country Music Awards. The Music Theater at the Ozark Folk Center has hosted thousands evening shows since its opening in 1973, including legends of country, folk, and American roots music.
Despite the park’s reputation for hosting nationally-touring musicians, the venue’s legacy rests with the Ozark people that play there. The songs they share, the dances they lead, and stories they tell are at the heart of this Arkansas State Park. For more than 40 years, the Ozark Folk Center has been the world’s only venue dedicated to keeping the Ozark way-of-life alive in our time.
